The Spanish company Konecta opened its customer service center in Chile, serving mainly Spain and Great Britain. This leading BPO company was one of the first Spanish multi-service outsourcing groups, with US$400 million in annual gross sales in 2007 and a staff of over 12,000 people in 21 work centers throughout Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Argentina and Chile, among others.

The company employs 1,500 professionals and technicians, and the figure is expected to 2,000 by the end of 2008. A significant number of these positions require an advanced knowledge of English.

Konecta chose the country after an exhaustive selection process. Advantages highlighted by the company include Chile's attractive business environment, safety, stability, efficient telecommunications and services and time zone with respect to Europe, as well as government support through CORFO's Invest Chile program.

Konecta's investment falls within the Offshoring Cluster area headed by the Chilean Government's Economic Development Agency, CORFO, and its Invest Chile program. CORFO helps attract foreign investment by offering investors services and economic incentives to facilitate the implementation of projects in Chile.
