Chile is becoming the regional leader in technology use due to the high penetration of mobile telephony and a growing number of people with Internet, as revealed by the ISI index which measures IT penetration. This figure is significantly higher than the comparable figures for Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia.

The report anticipated that Chile has more than 804 active mobile phones per 1,000 inhabitants, while the region's mean is 622, only exceeded by Argentina with 888. For Internet connectivity, the figure is also above the average, reaching 400 clients per 1,000 inhabitants. In other Latin American countries, Internet connectivity reaches 240 per 1,000 people.

In Chile, 237 out of 1,000 people have a PC, while the Latin American mean is 146 computers.
