The country increased its DFI by 14% in 2006 --totaling about US$8 billion-- which accounted for 28% of the economy's total gross capital mix. This figure is above the average for developing countries (14%), as shown by the World Investment Report 2007 of the United Nation's Conference on Trade and Development.

The report also reveals favorable prospects for Chile based on figures for the first semester, with an increase above 60% in DFI inflows.

While DFI increased sharply in developed countries, developing economies received the largest foreign investment inflow in their history, nearing US$380 billion.
