IMD: Chile leads competitiveness ranking in Latin America

Chile ranked No. 26 in the worldwide IMD 2007 Competitiveness Index, outperformed only by the United States and Canada in the Americas.
The study suggests that the main challenges faced by Chile are improving the quality and efficiency of education and public health, creating promotion and support incentives and benefits for small business creation, and improving the quality and coverage of the social security network.
