China consolidates as main destiny of the Chilean exports

During January shipments to that country rose 135% in 12 months, according to National Customs Service

China continues to consolidate as a major trading partner of Chile. According to the monthly report of the National Customs Service, shipments to that country shot up 135.5% in January, totaling US$ 1323.3 million during that period, 23.1% of total Chilean exports.

Meanwhile, according to the report of the entity's total shipments to the Asian mainland grew 75.7% and reached US$ 2565.7 million.

The second export destination was the European Union as a whole,as total shipments reached US$ 877 million, representing growth of 24.8% and 15.3% of total exports of Chile. A whole continent of Europe, meanwhile, grew 22.4% to US$ 960.2 million.

With the American continent shipments reached US$ 1872.9 million, a 21.7% increase over the same month of 2009. The U.S. stands out in the region, where shipments totaled $ 859 million, up to7, 8%.

Meanwhile, according to the report, in January the total trade of Chile registered a growth of 37% as a result of the increase experienced by both the amount of exports (48%) and imports (22% ). Especially the first one, which contributed US$ 1,856 million more compared to the same month last year.
