Oracle Opens Financial Services Development Center in ChilePublished: April 19, 2010
The new center will support the creation of software and leading solutions for this high-impact sector of the offshoring industry in order to meet the needs of Latin America's financial institutions.
At an event held at Casa Piedra, Oracle officially announced the opening of its new Applications Development Center for financial services, which will offer support to the rest of the region from its base in Chile.
This center will complement existing facilities in the United States and India. It will focus on developing products and applications for the financial services industry, including Oracle FLEXCUBE, which is used by over 390 financial institutions in 125 countries.
In addition, the Applications Development Center will offer consulting services in order to address the specific needs and product improvement issues of clients in the region's banking and financial services sector.
The event was attended by Oracle Financial Services Senior Vice President NRK Raman and General Manager Rajesh Hukku, as well as the Executive Vicepresident CEO of CORFO, Hernán Cheyre.
In his presentation, Rajesh Hukku referred to the importance of opening operations in Chile, emphasizing the country's determination following the February 27 earthquake.
Similarly, the Executive Vicepresident CEO of CORFO, Hernán Cheyre stated that "Although we have lived through one of the worst tragedies of recent times, Chile is and continues to be one of the best places to invest in Latin America. The rankings reflect this and the arrival of Oracle Financial Services operations proves it. We are confident that we will keep moving forward, that more projects and investors will come to Chile, and that we will continue with the development achieved up to this point".
This initiative adds to Oracle's Global Development Center, opened in the country in 2007, and reaffirms the company's commitment to Chile and Latin America.
