As part of The Americas IT Partner Seminar organized by ACTI and the Chile-IT business platform, experts analyzed Chile's strengths in the global service industry. The industry, including technology, architecture, engineering and audiovisual fields, could generate over US$ 5 billion in income for the country in 2015.

During The Americas IT Partner Seminar organized by ACTI and its business platform in the United States, Chile-IT, participants discussed Chile's opportunity to move forward in the global services industry and the potential impact on national development. Over 150 representatives from public and private sectors related to the outsourcing of a diverse range of services attended the seminar.

Hernán Cheyre, CORFO's CEO & Deputy Chairman, welcomed participants to the seminar and commented on the industry's growth since 2008, with around 60 global services centers in the country and exports exceeding US$ 840 million. He also emphasized that the country expects a turnover of over US$ 1 billion this year and that the goal is to reach US$ 5 billion by 2015, including fields like architecture, engineering, audiovisual, and technology.

Cheyre emphasized the importance of government support in the area, stating that, "Public-private joint efforts have been undertaken to strengthen the industry." He added that Chile has great opportunities in the global services market despite the country's recent earthquake, citing the arrival of Oracle Financial Services in Chile as an example.

Miguel Pérez, CEO of ACTI, indicated that, "The global services area is a fundamental part of the country's development, primarily in ensuring a world-class technology industry," and emphasized that innovation and partnerships are key. "Companies are interested in going to international levels, but it is not a random process. We are a small industry in the United States, which is why we need to work together today."

ACTI's CEO also commented that the technology industry has high expectations with regard to outsourcing, hoping to generate a turnover of over US$ 1.5 billion in ICT service outsourcing in 2015. "This business is relevant to the whole country and can positively influence the GDP, which is why we need a public-private coalition in which the government creates a favorable environment for companies to strengthen outsourcing services," he explained. "If we all do our part, we can make this challenge a reality."
