37,000 chileans now have International English Certification

The second round of CORFO's National Registry of Individuals with Advanced English Language Skills has just accredited over 21,510 new individuals, building on the first national exam held in January 2004. The Registry, the first of its kind in the world, includes over 37,000 English speakers accredited to international standards (TOEIC-Test of English for International Communication). This tool will be available to foreign companies setting up in Chile who wish to hire workers in various fields with a particular level of English.

Heritage Foundation: Chilean economy deemed the eighth freest in the world

Chile leads Latin America in economic freedom and scores eighth in the world, ahead of Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Hong Kong, meanwhile, was deemed the world's freest economy for the fourteenth year in a row, ahead of its rival, Singapore, according to the Heritage Foundation's 2008 Index of Economic Freedom carried out in 162 countries.


World Bank: Chile raises its standard of living in Latin America

According to the World Bank's global International Comparison Program report, Mexico is proportionally the most expensive country in Latin America, followed by Chile. The study compares economies around the world and shows the most and least expensive countries according to price indexes based on the experience of travelers who make purchases in different countries after exchanging their currency.
